I was inspired to pursue a career in photography following the gift of a 1952 Nikon F, 35mm camera and
encouragement from my mentor. As part of that
pursuit, I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I studied art education and photography with aspirations to teach others about art and photo. In the meantime I used the 1952
Nikon F for my own work and my first photography jobs while adding and upgrading my equipment and
exploring different photography techniques and styles.
That Nikon F taught me many things, but the most important is this: be patient, be kind, and follow your heart.
